Guidance & Counselling
Department

St Josephine Bakhita Masinga Girls’ High School has an active Guidance and Counseling department headed by Mrs. Eunice John. The mission of the Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career and personal/social development of all students. It works collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators to assist students as they navigate through their academic, personal, social and career paths in order to become positive and productive members of society.

The department has a committee composed of 6 teachers which works harmoniously with a team of peer counsellors drawn from the students fraternity. The peer counselors are 34 in number, 2 drawn from each class. This ensures that the students’ needs are presented to the department in good time.

Once the students’ needs are identified, the committee comes up with a flexible schedule addressing each of the needs. The schedule runs every Wednesday throughout the term and is facilitated by the members of the G&C team or by professional counsellors especially for issues touching on health or drug abuse.
