Subjects Offered & Subjects Selection
In form one our student are offered 12 subjects which consist of the three subjects in group I, the three subjects in group II, the three subjects from group III and three subject from group IV & V.
In form two first term and second term our students take the same subjects as in form one until when they do subject selection by the end of term two.
Our student do subject selection by the end of term two within the second year (in form two). After subject selection, our student start taking eight subject thus have an extra subject from the KNEC minimum of seven (7) subject. This extra subject help to cushion our student in case one of the elective subject become difficult as compared to an another one within the same grading category.
EXAMINATION POLICY
In Masinga girls for forms 1 & 2, we usually offer three exams in term one and two and two exams in term two since its usually shorter. We issue report forms after computing the average of the exams number of exams issued within a particular term as illustrated below.
For form 3s and 4s we usually offer an opener exam to test on how well our students attended to holiday assignments and then a mid-term comprehensive/ full exams from which report forms are issued at the end of the term.
Our examinations are of high standard since they balance the covered work as per syllabus and are harmonized by the subject teachers by adjudication of head of subjects (HOSs) and Head of departments (HODs). This process is keenly monitored by the office of the dean and school administration.
Examination irregularity is a vice the is highly discouraged in our school and any student caught in such is strongly but carefully disciplined to curb the vice. This may include discontinuation of such student after consultation with the ministry of education.
Examinations in our school are supervised by the teachers from within the examination rooms.
NB: The above measure among others has made sure that our student develop high examination discipline since we have never been caught with any exam irregularities in national examination and evidence of our improved performance in KNEC examinations.
In Masinga girls we have a common grading system for form 1s and 2s. However this grading system is a bit high in other subjects compared to science and mathematics subjects. The grading system motivate our girls to work extra hard in lower forms before they start covering more in upper forms.(Form 3 & 4)
For form 3s and 4s we use a different grading system that we find similar to that of Kenya National Examination Council as the grades they score are almost similar.
In our school we also recognize efforts done by our students, teachers and other stake holders.
