PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Nobody wishes to live in isolation. The launch of the St. Josephine Bakhita Masinga Girls website opens a new page in the history of the school. The era of modern communication has been with us for sometime now and its effect on modern living cannot be gainsaid. The website will bring together the Masinga girls family, past and present.

school background

St. Josephine Bakhita Masinga Girls High School is a five stream girls’ school situated off Thika – Garissa Highway 17 km from Kivandini Market. It can also be approached from Kanyonyoo – Embu Road by branching off at Kaewa Shopping Centre through Masinga market, Masinga
Catholic Church.
The school started in Kituneni village in 1976 under the African Brotherhood Church (ABC) as a girls boarding secondary school. It later moved to the current site, changed its sponsorship and
was placed under the Catholic Church.
In 1978, the first intake of 30 girls were admitted.
The school changed location twice; from Kituneni to Kyeeteni, from Kyeeteni to the current location.
The local community members contributed immensely to the growth of the school.
Mr. William Nzioka donated some piece of land.
During Mr. Bernard Muli’s reign as the principal in 1982 – 1988, the school compound was expanded from 14 acres to the current size 17acres. The expansion was championed by Mr.Kituku Maangi, Senior Chief Simon Kiminza and the late John Maingi.
Since its inception the school has continued to grow in population from a single stream school to a five stream school. Several principals have served as heads of this school namely:
Mr. Daniel Mutwanthei was the first and currently we have Mrs. Grace G. Karimi. In between there are 6 others (Mr. Bernard Muli,Mrs. Damaris Mwea,Mrs. Elizabeth Kaloki,Mrs. Lydia Mukuthu, Mrs. Joan Muoti and Mrs. Grace Kenya)
Currently, the school boasts of a population of 871 students and 36 teachers, 3 science laboratories, 8 dormitories, a computer laboratory, administration block, a modern Home science
block among others.
